The Pensions Regulator

The Pensions Regulator is the UK regulator of work-based pension schemes. It supervises the compliance for auto-enrolment and is responsible for enforcement under The Pensions Act 2008.

It is The Pensions Regulator’s duty to ensure companies are complying with Auto-Enrolment regulations and enforce penalties when they aren’t. They have made it very clear what they want companies to do, when to do it, and what format they want records to be in.

Whilst it is a complex administrative process, The Pensions Regulator has given Employers and Pension Providers clear guidance on the required format and there are now many simple solutions available.

The Pensions Regulator also has significant powers in relation to enforcement and can and will implement these in all circumstances when appropriate.
